I Have an Idea......

After teaching a class a couple of weeks ago, I had (what I thought was) a bright idea.

I've been quilting for 20 years now.  (Just writing that makes me feel very old....since I didn't start until well into adulthood....).  Anyway, there is lots of quilting lore, tips and magic that I take for granted.  In talking to new(ish) quilters, I have realized that many of us old-timers take so much for granted that we forget to share the tidbits.  I LOOOOOOVE sharing the tidbits and seeing the light bulb go off in another quilter's eyes, but let's face it - my job keeps me away from more of the face-to-face contact with my quilting peeps than I'd like on a daily basis.

So, how would you like for me to do a weekly posting regarding some of the small things that I just assume everybody already knows but may not?  Or would that be boring?  It might be basic quilting knowledge, or a helpful hint, or a product review, or something else entirely.  I certainly don't want to sound condescending; I truly want to share what I know with all of you.  And I admit that I don't know it all, but I have tried a lot of different things and I have learned much "the hard way", if you know what I mean!

So, what do you think?  Would you find "Tidbit Thursday" a helpful thing?  What do you want to know about?  Should I do this?

I would love it! I learned what I know from people sharing but have never taken a beginner's course so I am sure there are lots of basics that I am missing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I have also been quilting for almost 20 years now and sewing almost my whole life and I still learn something new every time I sew. I love getting advice on any topic I love. Sometimes I already know it and other times it is new to me. Either way I am thankful for the information. I say do it!

Please do Tidbit Thursday - i always love finding these types of things out and I find I usually get them from the others in my quilting classes which are infrequent. Go for it!

That is a great idea! It's helpful in so many ways, even just a glossary of the terms, like UFO. I had to look that up because I don't remember that being a term 30 years ago. I really have just re-entered the world of quilting and am "catching up" after this long absence so information like that is invaluable. Thanks for thinking of us.

Hey there! I'm a local shopper at the Quilt Asylum and a new quilter (one of those trying to learn "young" at 30). I would LOVE a Tidbit Thursday!
